High Five for Friday!

Friday. FRIDAY. FRIIIDAAY!! (said to the toon of "mail time" in Blues Clues.) :)

ONE. Walks, parks, and swings.
On Tuesday last week Mike, Chester, and I took a walk to one of the parks here in Blue Lake. It's an awesome park! When we got there, a cross country meet for K-8 was going on (I had NO idea it went as young as kindergarten!) so the park was crawling with kids and screaming in what they though was an encouraging way cheering parents. Mike and I really want to go back during the day so we can play on the AWESOME play ground! Chester also rode in his stroller without the car seat being attached for the first time. I think he loved it. He contentedly looked at everything we passed. He also got in a swing at the park which he enjoyed as well.

TWO. Family time.
Bummer I was exhausted come Sunday morning. Thankful my hubby let me sleep when he got home. Bummer we missed church. Thankful to go see Pastels on the Plaza without all of the crowds but with my hubby, baby, and an imaginary cup-o-joe. Below are a few, yes a few, of my favorites. :)

THREE. Friends who are crafty and can knit.
This little hat is inspiring some fun ideas over here but I can't share them with you, yet. :)

FOUR. The Village.
My aunt Susie sent Chester the cutest package of clothes and books. He is growing so quick. Thankful for bigger clothes just when we needed more. :) How cool that part of our "village" can be a part of Chester's life even 1600+ miles away?

FIVE. Fall-like weather.
Yay for boots, sweaters, and warm drinks.

BONUS.
SIX. Interview!
I had an interview on Friday for Fred Meyer Jewelry. Although I'm not dying to go work, I'm excited at the possibility. I should hear something either way on Monday.

Do you have any fun weekend plans? How was your week? Find some good!

I've linked up with Lauren for this post.

Ressegue Family Road Trip 2014: Day 3, 4, and 5

This is part of the "Ressegue Family Road Trip 2014" series. So much to record and of course now I can't remember everything... I just know I really enjoyed it. Anyway... We arrived in Kansas City on Saturday night. We had every intention of getting up for church on Sunday but it just did NOT happen.

DAY 3:
Sleep took over on Sunday morning... Some friends of ours arranged a little get together for Sunday afternoon and it was great to go feeling refreshed. We had so much fun. Love these people. Mike went and played baseball with some guys after the party then we headed back to Aunt Susie's to see the cousins. Andrew and Kristyn also flew into KCMO late on Sunday night. But before they got here I had to make a quick run to Target for a baby swing. Chester loves his swing and we HAD to have one. Anything for baby. ;)

DAY 4:
On Monday we showed Kristyn (and Andrew even though he's been here) around Kansas City. We went all around downtown, hit up Gordman's, river market antiques, and then Arthur Bryant's BBQ (YUM).

DAY 5:
Tuesday we did some more driving around and relaxing. That night we went to breakfast club. Our Missouri family gets together every Tuesday night for dinner and to spend time together. It's always an adventure!

Coming up next... Beaver Lake! We LOVE Beaver Lake. :)

Ressegue Family Road Trip 2014: Days 1, 2, and 3

This summer we took a 3 week road trip across the country; with a 6 week old. I know it was more than a month ago but I still want to record our trip and share it with you! We had SO much fun!

The plan was that my mom would join us and we would drive to Kansa City, Mo. We were there for 3/4 days then headed to south to Beaver Lake, AR for 1 week, back to KCMO for a week, and then to Southern California. We left on July 31st even though we had planned to leave August 1st. Mike had the time off and my mom was able to make it work. The first 3 days were simply TONS of driving.

DAY 1:
Mike, Chester, and I drove to Reno, NV. The drive went well, we had In-N-Out and made it to Reno in about 8 hours. We even hit rain on the way and if you  know anything about California at the moment, you know we're in a major drought so we celebrated the rain that was accompanied with rolling thunder and dancing lightening.

{thankful for this man and his endurance}

{MUCH needed coffee to start our trip}

{honestly not sure what this area was called but it's in California}

{Chester snoozing away... when he would still take a binky...}

DAY 2:
We got up early, mom returned the rental car she drove from SoCal to Reno, and we hit the road! We made it from Reno to some where in Wyoming... I can't remember where. It was a LONG drive but we did well and so did Chester. We stopped for dinner in Salt Lake City, UT. From Salt Lake City (even west of there) to Wyoming it was beautiful! Most of it was at night which was kind of a bummer but you could just tell it was gorgeous.

I was teething on this portion of the trip (my wisdom teeth are coming in) so we had to stop in some tiny town and cross our fingers the had Orajel and thank God they did. Orajel combined with some other things made the teething bearable and myself much less cranky... I used orajel directly on the gum/tooth that was causing pain, PanAway (by Young Living) to help alleviate pain in my jaw (when I smiled it would pull inside my mouth and cause pain), and eventually I took an aleve to help with my whole body. Man. I feel for teething babies. Cry baby, cry! I feel your pain!

{this is where Chester and I were a majority of the time...}

{super tiny town food}

DAY 3
The last stretch! From Wyoming to Kansas City. I just remember being tired and ready to be in KCMO. I got some front seat time on this day which was much needed as Chester wasn't loving his car seat to well anymore...

I loved Wyoming. A heard of horses running through wide open pastures, rolling hills, antelope (which I had NEVER seen before and I'm from the Antelope Valley...), and starbucks make for a b.e.a.utiful drive. ;)

Driving through Nebraska we hit a thunderstorm and rain which resulted in more excitement.

{how Chester would fall asleep most of the time <3}

{these formations were beautiful! please ignore the car...}

What's the longest road trip you've done? This one was something like 36 hours in a car...

High Five for Friday

Wow. This is my first blog post since having Chester... Why not start on most people's favorite day of the week, Friday!! We'll get this weekend started off on the right foot!

As usual (ha!)... linking up with Lauren.

ONE. Health.
I'm seriously happy that I have good general health (other than being a little too fluffy). I was sick this week for the first time since I've had Chester. It was no fun but luckily my hubby was home so I could sleep on the hardest days and I had my handy Young Living Essential Oils to help alleviate the symptoms. Plus... my baby didn't get sick!

TWO. Walking.
Since I was sick, I didn't get to work out or go on my walks for most of the week. When you have a pounding headache, walking around with a baby strapped to you doesn't seem appealing or comfortable but by Thursday Chester and I were power walking through Blue Lake (and I got him in a back carry in the ergo all by myself for the first time). Since Chester was born (and I after I recovered some), I've made it a point to get outside at least once a day. Thankfully, Mike took him for a stroll or two with Chester while I was sick.

{proof. scary looking proof.}

THREE. Zulily.
Ok. I might have a problem. If you ask my husband, he'll say I DO have a problem. When I'm nursing Chester, I tend to browse around the internet on my phone. Enter Zulily, my first online shopping addiction experience. I need to uninstall it from my phone...
Ok, back on track; I got a pair of toms wedges, a Latico Leather purse, a pair of boots, some cloth diapers, cat earrings (omg... I'm that lady), and a sweatshirt designed for easy nursing. I love each and every one and they have all been used already!

{toms and Latico Leather purse}

{cat earrings and a braid}

FOUR. Technology.
Mike had an interview via internet/skypish thing a few weeks ago and we heard back tonight where he ranks out of everyone else for when they start hiring people. I would say it's optimistic to think he may have a job offer within a few months. Thank you technology for making this easier and cheaper than it could have been!

FIVE. Rain.
We live in Northern California, in the Redwoods. They are majestic, to say the least. It usually so lush and green here but like the rest of California, we are in a major drought. We haven't had anything you could hardly call rain since before memorial day and it finally, finally, broke this week. We are talking loud loud rainfall. An awesome thing we like to call thunder and lightening accompanied the rain and it. was. fabulous. Thank you God!

How was your week?
What are your weekend plans?

Be well.

Baby Lips - A Review

My sister has been using Baby Lips by Maybelline for quite some time. I always ask if I can use it when I see her pull it out so I figure it was time I get my own...

 I love the sheer, natural color and the way it not only makes your lips look more supple, but actually feel more supple.

They have a variety of shades. Luckily, they come out calmer than the intense looking pigmented colors you see above and they are under $3!

I chose Cherry Me. How fitting seeing as my home town, Leona Valley, is hosting the annual Cherry Parade this weekend! If you're in the area check it out.

{not sure why I look so flawlessly blurry... oh picmonkey. I'm still trying to figure you out!}

What is your favorite every day lip wear?

Any fun weekend plans?
Just finishing getting ready for baby (his EDD is in 18 or so days!!) and going to the river!

*Maybelline has no idea who I am. These are my thoughts.*

High Five (six) for Friday - Baby Edition!

It's Friday y'all!
Normally, when I'm on top of things, I do a "high five for friday" post (and link up with Lauren). But since I've fallen off of the blogging world (again!) lets do a quick recap of highs - baby edition. Shall we?

 photo H54Fbutton_zps973d26e1.png

ONE. Wiggle Worm.
Baby boy is proving to be quite the wiggle worm. I was waiting for an appointment and while waiting, I was holding my water tumbler against my belly. I noticed that the water was moving but couldn't figure out why. Then it hit me! The little man is kicking stronger and stronger. I watched for a while and sure enough, that's exactly what it was. Now, if only he would keep kicking when an actual hand is on my tummy. That would be great.

TWO. Nursery!
It's coming together. I promise to post about it soon. I still need to get the decorations up. :P But, things are put away, we have a bookshelf in there, and clothes are organized.

THREE. Bradley Method.
Mike and I started and finished our birth classes. Bring on the husband coached birth! Honestly, we are enjoyed the classes and highly recommend them! We are learning a ton and it's great for gearing you up and putting your mind at ease about the unknowns all at once. We'll be test on the material in 3-7 weeks (omg is it really that soon?!)!

{Check it out!}

FOUR. Clearance, Deals, Craigslist.
I love when big time clearances are happening! I got a great piece of wall art, new and comfy black flats, a white vase with fake flower(s) and succulents, baby clothes, maternity clothes, baby gear and various other things! I scored a trash bag of baby clothes for $10!!!! Last but not least, my mom has found some good deals on craigslist type Facebook pages for other baby gear. Score!

FIVE. Baby Shower(s).
We were so blessed by all of you! Wow. This baby is so loved! Here are some shots!

These are from the Humboldt shower.
{YUM}

{Welcome baby! We're excited for you!}

These are from the shower my 2 dear friends and mom threw.
{I LOVE the planets my mom made. And that banner... cute!}

{favors}

{I plan to hang this on his door. :)}

The ONLY photo I have from the shower my mother-in-law threw. At least it's pretty.
{Pretty desert roses}

SIX. A Helpful Husband.
As the baby grows so does my tummy. That means it's starting to get in the way at work (and when I try to put on hiking boots). When I'm trying to video the inside of a super tall truck, my baby bump starts pressing the seat controls... it's actually very entertaining ;) He has been helping me with moving cars/trucks and getting the inside shots. I'm grateful Mike is helpful and my employer is open! I hope I'm not driving my man crazy...

I hope you have been able to see the good things in your week!

Blast off!!

When I first found out I was pregnant, my design/style/fashion mind started spinning. I asked Hubby what he would want for nursery and of course all he cares about is that there is a crib. ;) If we were having a girl, I had decided on an ocean theme with coral and turquoise. But alas, we are having a boy and he gets a rocket ship themed room (think rocket ships, robots, and stars. Easy on the pastels).

I have been thinking through some bible verses for baby's room and think I've landed on Psalm 147:4-5.

Here is some of the nursery furniture we've registered for (and a few extras thrown in). It will all come together so nice! Oh... I forgot to throw in some nice gray and white horizontal striped curtains...

Here are some ideas and inspirations I love...

I'm really looking forward to getting everything put together after the baby shower(s). :) This baby is loved!

Feel free to check out my Rocket Ship Theme Pinterest board!

Do you have any favorite verses that would be good for baby or to meet your theme?

What is your dream nursery theme?
