High Five for Friday : Blue Edition 2

Friday, Friday, FRIIIIDAYYY!!!!! (sing it to the tune of "Mail Time" from Blue Clues. Why do I know that song? We would watch it when my bro and sis where at that age. Don't judge me.)

As usual, I'm linking up with Lauren because it's Friday; and that is a reason to celebrate.

ONE. AWANA Conference.
Last Friday I headed to Redding for the AWANA conference. The conference itself was great! I learned a lot and left feeling inspired. But I'm not gonna lie, I was way excited about eating Chipotle and In-N-Out while in Redding. They are the closest to us at 3 hours away...

TWO. Sunday.
Seriously, the whole day was great. Even though I don't know the principle of the Christian school that was being honored on Sunday, I still got a lot from being there. Aunt Brenda and Uncle Jeff (family friends) just happened to coming through the Eureka area (they were on a trip and went out of their way to come here)! The first night of lesson time with our young married group went awesome! Seriously, Sunday was just great.

THREE. Dates.
I love dating my hubby. I even love that we save money by going to early movies. I'm really trying to take advantage of this time in our life (kid free).

P.S. Go see Captain Phillips!

{this is a really old picture. at least 6 or 7 years old. :P}

FOUR. Pregnancy Care Center of the North Coast & last night's Harvest Banquet.
NO I'M NOT PREGNANT. However, I support their ministry. Carol Everett was the keynote speaker and she was fantastic. Check her out here. I also found out that my grandmother used to volunteer at the crisis pregnancy center near her home in NW Arkansas (even when she was going through cancer). Oh yeah, I finally had an occasion to dress up since moving to Humboldt County. People do NOT dress up here. I was having withdraws. I wore a blue (didn't even think of it for my 31 days challenge) dress with black tights, black leather shoes, a dark bling cuff, blingy ring, and black earrings. It was missed!

FIVE. Organization.
So glad to finally have the top shelf of my closet ORGANIZED! Woot. Now for the rest of the closet...

{super exciting picture. I know.}

I hope you had an enjoyable week! Tell me about it. :)

Hues of Blue : Bedrooms

I really wanted to show you our bedroom on this blog thing today. But it's messy. And since you all think I lead a perfect, clean, orderly life; I can't show you because it is incomplete and, well... messy. I hope you know that was all sarcasm and I'm not delusional. I'm aware that you know my life is not those things... I will show you that room soon though!

But tonight, I'm showing you some great rooms done in the hues of blue. I'm in love!

Which one is your favorite?
I gotta go top right or second from the bottom. Love those rich colors!

What hues do you tend to go for? Opaque? Solid? Pastel? Jewel Toned?
Solid jewel tones (hence the name of this blog)!

What color is your room? Do you want to change it?
It's yellow... I'm dying to change it. :P

Ear Sweets

We are half way through the 31 day challenge! How are you doing? Is there anything you would like me to cover (I don't care if it relates to blue or not ;)?

Since I was busy living life and spending time with the hubby, I didn't get to blog for a couple days.

Today we're back on track with earrings!I think earrings are my favorite part of jewelry.

Below are all of the blue hued earrings I own. Some of these are cheapies from big box stores, some are artist made, and some are garage sale finds. I realized I have a pretty good range of blue colors within my earring collection

{my blue hued earring collection}

A close up of my favorites, of course.

{spotted poppy designs. vintage mexican bead}

{Bauble by katy town. you can get her work at Stuff (in Kansas City)}

{old park lane. they are perfect with a casual outfit}

{my sweet friend hannah got these for me. they are awesome. so is she}

How many pairs of earrings do you have?
I'm afraid to find out... I would say around 50. I have a problem. I know.

What is your favorite piece of jewelry to wear?
Earrings, then rings.

Is there anything you would like me to cover during this series?

Failure and Life.

Today I realized I failed. I didn't update the blog yesterday for the 31 Days of Blue writing challenge.

This thing called "life" got in the way.

But I'm glad for it, for this "failure".

We live in such a busy world that the last thing you need to do at the end of a busy day is figure out blog content or stick your face in a computer/tv/phone screen. We need to spend the remaining time in the day with our spouse (or maybe your kids).

My desire is to grow this blog and to share life with you, however I want my content to be real. I don't want to be "reaching" to give you content. So, yesterday after church, spending time with dear family friends (who just happened to drive through our town [they live 10+ hours away}), and hosting a young marrieds bible study; it was time to be with my husband.

It can be a challenge in itself to say "no" to being distracted by screens. I encourage you to try it. Turn off the TV. Get off of your computer. Put your phone down. Who are the people around you? Get to know them. Love on them.

*Deep thought alert*
I'm so thankful that Christ died for my failures and that he renews my soul! Thank you Jesus!

P.S. While writing this, I had to google "when to use a semicolon" (for all you grammar folks). This is what I found (click the link below the picture). Enjoy!

Flowers... Also Part of My Happy Place.

Flowers are part of my happy place. Yes, just like turquoise is.

I love the variety of colors, shapes, textures, and personalities that flowers have.

My husband loves Bird of Paradise. I love... well, I'm not sure what flower I love. I just love them. If I had to choose right now, I would say it's a toss up of Ranunculus, Fuchsias, Snap Dragon, and any kind of Poppy.

But here are some blue pretties!

{peace. via}

{these would be a fun pop of color in any floral arrangement. via}

{my heart would be so happy to spend a day in a field of these
 with my hubby and picnic. via}

{I could almost drink these... via}

What is your favorite flower(s)?
