High Five for Friday

Woo Hoo! The weekend is here. I don't much planned in the exciting department but I do in the home department. Anyway... linking up with Lauren today.

Here's what was great about this past week:

ONE. New Job.
I started a new job! I haven't had a job in over a year and it feels great to be back working somewhere. I am now a paid photographer and videographer of ... vehicles. Yay for product photography! I think there are a couple things that helped me get this job 1) I had a marketing internship with Stuff (an awesome little shop in Brookside, Kansas City, MO) where I did product photography (thanks Casey and Sloane!) and 2) I'm good on the phone. My "interview" was via phone and I actually have phone skills (thanks mom and dad for teaching us). Anyway, the pay is awesome and hours are completely flexible. Score!

TWO. Soul Mate.
I got to marry mine. He's my best friend, my soul mate, and my husband. He knows when we just need to go out or when it's a good time to cuddle up and stay in. He knows how to make my laugh and get my irritated in a second (but I love him anyway... ;).

And um... we're on her homepage! Awesome}

THREE. Spotted Poppy.
Things are getting done for Spotted Poppy! More product photography. Yay!

FOUR. Cooking.
I haven't really cooked in a while and it was nice to get back to it last night. Last night was a cauliflower based alfredo sauce. Tonight, homemade beef and broccoli! Here is the link if you're interested ... Cauliflower Sauce

FIVE. Warmth.
We have a heater, a wood burning stove, warm clothes, blankets, and hot water. Plus, it's Christmas time. It's always cozier at Christmas.

And here is my remake of Carol of the Bells ...

Weekend is here
Bringing us cheer

That's it. That's all I've got.

How was your week? I hope that you are able to find and appreciate the little things that make life great.

A little of this and a little of that

I have a lot going on in my head, mostly good, that I just feel like jotting down. If you want to know what's been on my mind a little more, then go ahead and read. If not, I won't be offended. ;) I suppose this is a "for me" post.

1) I live near a pumpkin patch. I live near a pumpkin patch. I LIVE NEAR A PUMPKIN PATCH. I love it. :) I know, I know. A lot of people live near pumpkin patches but how did I not realize it until now?! Yay fall! :)

2) My brain is spinning with ideas for Spotted Poppy (mine and my mom's side business). I have no idea where to start. And these are both good and bad things. I need to start getting all of these thoughts on paper.

3) George (Kristyn and Andrew's new siamese/himalayan kitty) is too cute. I'm thankful for the 3 little companion animals that are in this house!

4) When people ask me what I "do", as in work, I now say house wife. And that's ok. At first I was hating that thought because well, I wasn't sure why. I think I was hating it because society tells us our value is in what we do for a living. But that's not true. My value is in Christ (thank God)!

5) Our tomatoes are FINALLY turning red. It's taken forever!

6) Mike just worked 6 days. When he got home last night I immediately had a smile (more like goofy grin), and lasted until I went to sleep. I guess I'm still in love. ;)

7) I really want a mid west style thunderstorm. Here's to dreaming!

8) Mike and I are going to Kansas City in October. It will be almost 1 year since we left. Crazy! Some days I think, "How cool would it be if we wound up back there some day." then I realize, it will probably never happen. God is good always!

Those are a few things swimming through my head. What kind of stuff has been going throw your head? Are you enjoying the season of life you're in? Are you too busy to even try enjoying it?

High Five for Friday

Hive Five for Friday!!!!

Man, it's been a while since I've done this series, but it's time I get back to it.

ONE. Big Life Decisions
Mike and I made the final decision to move back to California. I'm very excited, very calm, and a little nervous. Our families are out there and we have missed them so. I can't wait to spend precious time with them!

TWO. Support
I have been so blessed by the out pouring of support from friends, family and acquaintances. You all rock! After I was fired and you all found out, BOOM!, texts, messages, comments, phone calls and personal visits. And then, after Mike and I decided to move back to Cali, BOOM!, all of you making sure we are being reasonable and then stepping up to offer help with the whole moving process. You ROCK and we LOVE you!

THREE. Possible Job Opportunities
Mike is already moving forward in the application process with a company in Cali. I am supposed to have an interview via Skype at some point.

FOUR. Leisure Time
With not working this last week comes slow mornings to spend with coffee and Jesus. Perfection.

FIVE. Cooking
I haven't really gotten to cook on a semi regular basis in quite some time. I have really enjoyed being able to cook and find recipes on Pinterest. Yummy!

I'm linking up with Lauren @ From My Grey Desk. You should link up too!

High Five it up!

It's nice to be a part of the "Friday means 2 days off" club...

What makes me most happy for this Friday, is that my mom is here! I'm very excited to spend some time with her. She is a cool lady and I enjoy our relationship.

ONE. Employment.
Mike started his new job on Monday.
So thankful that both of us are employed!

TWO. 100th Birthdays.
My great aunt Lizzy turned 100 last week!
On Saturday, there was a party put on by her church. They are such sweet people and I’m so glad that she is surrounded by people who love her.
Because of this fun party, we had quite a bit of family there.

THREE. Window Shopping.
Mike and I always have fun window shopping together.
Check out these super cute chairs from TJMaxx!

FOUR. Mitzy.
Boy does she make our lives interesting!!
While I was reorganizing/cleaning out the mudroom closet this week, she was having a blast exploring and being a fun pest. But I use pest in a fun way. When I searched the thesaurus, some nasty words came up, so a fun pest she is!

FIVE. Cooking.
It’s so great to be cooking again! I don’t think I realized I missed it.
I feel like it’s one of the ways I show Mike I care about him and love him. While he was in limbo between school and work for 2.5 months, he always made dinner. Don’t get me wrong, it was awesome but I’m just glad to be doing it. J

What is your favorite recipe? Feel free to share in the comments!
I would love to try them out.

ONE. Job Offer
Mike got a job offer. Yes he did!!
It is in Lee’s Summit (a suburb of KCMO and where I work).
Next step is moving out this way for sake of convenience and what not.
I am so proud of him!

 TWO. VBS (vacation bible school)
I have been helping with games and what a blast it has been!
Watching these kids learn about Jesus and learn how to encourage
each other has been such a special thing to experience.

THREE. 5lbs. Down
I have lost 5lbs in the last 9 days!!!
Woot.
As you remember, this is goes toward part of my 12 in 2012 goal.
Yay for portion control, veggies and moving more.

FOUR. God’s Promise
I am with you

 via

FIVE. Friends
I love the friends I have made here in Missouri.
They are so encouraging and uplifting.
I miss my Cali friends.
I am so thankful for Skype, text and Facebook
for keeping in touch and up-to-date on your lives.
Our God is good and I can see him at work in all of our lives!

What little or big things happened in your life this week?

Have a happy weekend lovelies!

High Five for Friday

Friday and I are friends.
I'm linking up with Lauren at From My Grey Desk and you should too!

What were my highs this week?

ONE. Carpooling.
The new job (more on that next) and the hubby's clinicals are about 25 min. from home.
So, we got to carpool 3 out of the 5 days.
And I loved it
In fact, I find it awesome that I miss that time with him.
But next week we get to carpool at least 2x! :D

TWO. Verdict on new job.
It's great! I enjoy what I'm doing, who I'm working with
and who I'm working for. It really is great.
And God is good!

THREE. Numbers going down.
Do you remember the 12 in 2012 post where
I talked about losing 5lbs a month?
Well, I haven't lost 10lbs in the last 2 months but
I have lost 7!!

via

FOUR. God's Promises.
God promises to provide. And he does.
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?"
Matthew 6:25-27
He is good.

FIVE. Mitzy.
She gives us such great entertainment.
I love animals.
I love that God gave us animals.
They are so interesting and comforting and fun!
Now, go hug your pet! They love you!

So, what were some of the highs of your week?
I would love to hear them!

High Five for Friday

I am happily welcoming Friday.

Every Friday (except last week... sorry) I link up with Lauren at From My Grey Desk.
It is meant to be a reflection on the "highs" of your week and to help you focus on the good things, big or small, when there can be so many bad things.

Here we go...

ONE. God's perfect timing.
Last Friday, February 10th, was my birthday. It was also the day I was offered a postion with f'real and I accepted that postion. God's timing is perfect and never ceases to amaze me. I'm SO excited to start with f'real on March 1st.

TWO. Friends.
On Saturday, we had a birthday party full of taco's, games,
great people, the really tall and amazing chocolate cake from Costco and milk.
I LOVE that cake. It's my favorite. Oh, and I love my friends too. ;)

THREE. The Hunger Games Trilogy.

Found here

This is an intense trilogy. I'm 24 and I loved it but also recognize it's intense. I think some 13 year olds could handle and other need to wait. I will say this. I'm so glad it ended the way it did! I wasn't sure how I wanted it to end and then when it did, I knew it was the only right way to end it.

FOUR. Chiropractors.
{This was the cheesiest and creepiest picture I could find...}
If you didn't catch it on Facebook, I got rearended pretty hard two Wednesday's ago (2/1/12). With the job change comes a much better health insurance set up for me. Yay!

FIVE. Being Spoiled.
{This is not the case but it's funny}
My hubby spoiled me real good from my brithday until, well, he's still kinda doing it. I'm a blessed girl. Also, I'm taking advantage of all the time I get to spend with him. The next month won't be that way so much.

Be sure to link up!

What are your high fives for the week?
If you dont have any, work on seeing the small things that make life beautiful!

Peace out lovlies!

High Five for Friday!

It's Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm very very very happy about that! I get to craft with some great co-workers this weekend. It's also Super Bowl weekend (PARTY)! AND I get to simply relax my brain a bit.
But I digress. This is a post meant to reflect on 5 highs of the week that's ending.

I'm linking up with Lauren at From My Grey Desk. Be sure to check her out.

Here we go...

One. 1999 Honda Accords.

Those things are made of steel and will never die. I was rear ended rather, hard, by a very large old van (with a metal bumper), pulling a trailer, on Wednesday night and all my car has to show for it is a few scratches. AMAZING and SAFE.
I would love my next car to be a Honda CRV or Ford Escape. We shall see! FYI this is not my car however, mine looks EXACTLY like this one.

Two. Mitzy.

{Mitzy the Kitzy}

Although she is C.R.A.Z.Y. , I love her. She makes our nights void of sleep lives interesting! She is still a kitten and curious as can be. I love it.

Three. Riley.

{Riley is the adorable, petite person in this picture}

She made me the sweetest little desk calendar. I finally brought it to work for my desk. It makes my day that much better when I see it. :)

{I apologize for the photo quality. Good ole phone pic.}

Four. My Job.

It can be hard to remember that there are people out there who have been unemployed for quite some time and that people are being laid off often, every day. My number four "high" is being employed.

Five. Hobby Lobby.

{logo}

How can Hobby Lobby not make the top 5 highs of the week?!

Be sure to check out the link party!

Tell me,
What were your top five?
Who do you appreciate in your life?
Are you dreaming of a new car? A new job?
