High Five for Friday

I'm linking up with Lauren today because it's FRIDAY!

Photobucket

ONE. Thrifting
I went shopping at thrift stores with my mom and hubby.
We always find crazy things... and super cute things!
I got a new vase, silver slip on shoes (true story, and their awesome!), and two new shirts!
{creepy eye found thrifting}

TWO. Juicy Fruit
I have loved doing the 5th and 6th grade girls Juicy Fruit bible study.
They are so fun!
This coming Wednesday is our last day together. :(

THREE. Riley's hair cut
I'm sure it seems odd that I want to even mention someone else's hair cut...
but I have been wait for this day for soo long!!!
Doesn't she look GREAT?!
{photo via her boyfriend's fb}

FOUR. Rainbows
You want to know what the true symbolism of a rainbow is?
It is God's promise, and a beautiful one it is.
Genesis 9:8-17
I saw an amazing rainbow at about 6:45am on my way to work.
Our God is amazing and His creation is my favorite.

FIVE. Air Conditioning
It's been 103+ for the last week and that's continuing until...???
Need I say more?
{ew}

How was your week?
Fantastic I hope!

Love you all!

High Five for Friday

It's that time again dearies. A time to relfect on the week!
It's Friday and I'm happy about that.

I'm linking up with Lauren at From My Grey Desk for this weekly posting, "High Five for Friday".
It's meant for us to take a step back and recognize the good things in our week!
Here we go!

1) High Five for YOUR Voice!!:
I'm thankful for all the people taking time to sign the petition against SOPA and PIPA.
We can not allow our government to censor the internet.
People, this is what's going on in countries like China.

2) High Five for Prioritizing Relationships:
On Tuesday night's my family goes to Breakfast Club.
Breakfast Club is just us choosing a place and going to dinner.
It's a blast.
However, this Tuesday the hubby and I decided we needed some
 "husband and wife" time.
I love that man.
God is good.

3) High Five for Books:
So excited to get this book from the liabrary for book club.
Guess what I'll be doing this weekend...

4) High Five for Squirt Bottles:
In case you don't know, Mitzy (my kitzy cat), is C.R.A.Z.Y.
Yay for squirt bottles that aid in our trying to chill her OUT.
'Nough said.

5) High Five for Getting-Enough-Sleep-During-the-Week!!!:
I'm on a roll, babies, and I really enjoy sleep.

What are your 5 highlights and what-have-you's for the week?

Closet Craziness

Phew. My closet was a MESS!

See? I can't believe I'm sharing this with the world.

Did you really look,  I mean really LOOK at this!

Pure. Craziness.

This scary, scary place made me frustrated about not being able to find clothes. The sad (or awesome in my opinion) thing is that I wear all of these clothing items. But, I still had to have a "come-to-Jesus" meeting and ditch some of them and figure out a better organizational system.

A couple of months ago (I took these photos knowing I would be starting a blog), I was out looking for some sort of solution to the scariness and found this...

It was $5!! That's it!

The very nice man at the thrift store helped me get it in car trunk and tie it down with men's ties (thank you 2nd Chance Thrift!!). I bought some fun paint and went to town. I am by no means a master at redoing furniture but I'm not afraid to do it either. If you want to look at some wonderful furniture redo's check out the RustiChic blog. Anyway, here's what you need for basic redo's.

Mouse Sander
Sticky Cloth stuff to get the dust off
Paint
Paint brush
Those yellow stands so you get the base good

You also need your piece of furniture... Bookshelf!

A friendly helper... Mitzy the Kitzy

Now, you sand down the piece. All sides, insides and outsides. I like my mouse because I can get in the corners really well. I use a more coarse paper first and then go over it with a finer grit of sand paper to smooth it out. This is where your sticky (tacky?) cloth comes in. Wipe it down with you cloth. Now you're ready to paint!

1st coat of paint

As you can see... it needed a second coat

I chose a vibrant purple! I knew it would be going in my closet so it could be whatever color I wanted. I honestly thought I was going to choose orange or some obnoxious neon color. But alas, I love my purple.

I didn't get any pictures after the second coat but I do have pictures of my new closet!

My pretty closet! And it still looks like this!
Bins on top are for scarves, hats, shorts and sweatshirts.
Don't mind the Target bag... it has Mike's stocking stuffers in it. :)

Yay, organization!

And there you have it world. A super duper fast read on redoing furniture and organization!

What space do you have that need some TLC?
